Overview
In this role you will lead mechanical installation activities for a major nuclear construction programme, coordinating with logistics, quality and project controls to ensure safe, compliant delivery of rotating equipment. You will monitor installation work, review contractor documentation, and maintain accurate site records while actively driving performance improvements. This position offers the chance to influence critical infrastructure in a regulated, safety‑driven environment and to collaborate with cross‑functional teams to meet project milestones.

Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of mechanical installation works across assigned construction areas
- Monitor installation of pumps, gearboxes and rotating equipment packages
- Promote safety, quality and compliance throughout construction delivery activities
- Review contractor documentation, audits and assurance inspection findings
- Coordinate closely with logistics, quality and project controls teams
- Track progress, escalate issues and provide detailed construction reports
- Attend technical meetings and support contractor delivery performance improvement
- Conduct site inspections supporting project health, safety and quality objectives
- Maintain accurate construction records and daily site activity logs
- Support construction sequencing, recovery planning and resource allocation activities
Key requirements
- Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent technical qualification
- Experience delivering construction projects within complex industrial environments
- Strong knowledge of rotating equipment installation and mechanical assembly techniques
- Experience using precision measuring instruments including dial gauges and micrometers
- Ability to read mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic engineering drawings
- Understanding of CDM Regulations and construction safety responsibilities
- SMSTS or IOSH qualification holder with strong safety leadership skills
- Excellent stakeholder management and contractor coordination capabilities
- Strong report writing, organisational and communication skills
- Experience within nuclear or major power generation projects advantageous
