Overview
In this Sustainability Consultant role, you will lead ESG advisory for institutional real estate clients, owning relationships and directing workstreams across GRESB and BREEAM In-Use projects. You’ll translate technical insights into commercial decisions and shape service development with limited supervision. The position offers client ownership, cross-functional collaboration, and scope to expand into adjacent ESG areas. Responsibilities
- Own day-to-day client relationships for institutional investor, fund manager and asset manager clients
- Present findings and recommendations to fund managers, asset managers and investment committees
- Coordinate with management agents, property managers, occupiers and assessors to gather data
- Manage client expectations on scope and timelines and escalate when needed
- Deliver annual GRESB Real Estate Assessment submissions (Management and Performance) and build multi-year improvement roadmaps
- Own the data workstream (energy, water, waste, GHG data collection, coverage, reporting, acquisitions/disposals)
- Design and operate QA processes ensuring traceability of reported figures
- Interpret results against peer group benchmarks and prepare post-results narratives
- Advise on BREEAM In-Use strategy (scope, Parts 1 and 2, target rating) and evidence gathering
- Liaise with licensed BREEAM In-Use Assessors through to certification and support audits
- Undertake site surveys and building reviews to identify improvements
- Advise on interventions to move assets between rating bands with cost-management input
- Contribute to bids, proposals, and fee submissions
- Develop tools, templates, and methodologies to improve efficiency
Key requirements
- Approximately 4 years’ client-facing consultancy experience in real estate, sustainability, or built environment
- Experience working directly with institutional investors, fund managers or asset managers
- Strong, hands-on GRESB experience with multiple submissions
- Strong BREEAM In-Use experience with knowledge of the current scheme version and certification process
- Proven ability to manage own workstreams and deadlines with minimal supervision
- Excellent client management skills and ability to operate under commercial pressure
- Strong data handling with advanced Excel and large datasets
- Clear, concise written communication suitable for non-technical readers

- Degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent demonstrable experience
