Overview
In this role you will lead all financial reporting activity for the UK & Ireland business, ensuring IFRS and UK GAAP compliance and strong financial governance. You will collaborate with the UK&I CFO, Group Finance, Shared Services and external stakeholders to deliver statutory accounts, group consolidation and audit management in a fast-paced FMCG environment. You will translate complex accounting concepts into actionable insights and drive continuous improvements in controls and reporting accuracy. This is a high-impact, cross-functional role that shapes financial integrity and business performance.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and publish statutory accounts for UK&I entities in line with Group standards, IFRS, and UK GAAP
- Lead the annual external audit process and act as main liaison with auditors and stakeholders
- Oversee month-end reporting (P&L, balance sheets, journals, GL reconciliations) in SAP
- Ensure timely submission of monthly Group consolidation packages and resolve complex accounting matters
- Collaborate with Shared Services and international entities on intercompany reconciliations and close process
- Provide financial analysis and reporting to support decision-making and maintain internal controls per policy
- Support local tax compliance and manage tax audits, enquiries, and external advisor relationships
- Oversee fixed asset accounting and support inventory governance per Group procedures
- Work with Internal Audit, Governance, Risk & Compliance to deliver audit action plans and strengthen controls
- Support achievement of unqualified audit opinions
Key requirements
- Professionally qualified or part-qualified accountant with significant experience in financial reporting, statutory accounting, and audit management
- Strong technical expertise in IFRS and UK GAAP; solid understanding of taxation principles and financial controls
- Ability to manage complex reporting and translate technical concepts for a broad range of stakeholders
- SAP experience is essential; Oracle HFM exposure advantageous
- Analytical, detail-oriented, and able to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Collaborative with strong stakeholder management across finance teams, senior leadership, Group functions, and external partners
- FMCG experience is beneficial but not required if equivalent financial reporting experience
