Overview
In this role you will support Tata Steel’s in-house tax team with global customs and related tax duties, focusing on duty relief and DDP imports. You will lead customs compliance efforts, manage regulatory requirements across US, EU and other regions, and advise on tariff classification and valuation. The role involves partnering with IT and senior leaders to optimise duty costs and reduce risk, while driving continuous improvement within the department. A credible, proactive expert with strong communication will help shape global trade strategies in a large-scale industrial setting.

Responsibilities
- Support multinational business and tax team on customs and related taxes (CBAM)
- Regulatory management of US, EU and global DDP imports and projects
- Lead HMRC authorisations for duty relief
- Ensure accurate tariff classification, customs valuation and origin determination
- Oversee customs compliance and trade regulatory activity
- Ensure adherence to international trade laws
- Optimise duty costs
- Mitigate risk and provide SME guidance
- Collaborate with IT and senior leadership on trade initiatives
- Drive continuous improvement within the department
Key requirements
- Full Tax Accountancy qualification (CTA, ATT, ACA, ACCA)
- Driving licence and access to own vehicle
- Experience in business forecasting related to taxation
- Capability to conduct complex top-level financial analysis
- Broad understanding of taxation issues and their impact on other departments
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proven experience leading a small team
- Customs systems experience (CDS, SAP, GTS or equivalent)
- Good IT literacy with MS Office
