Overview
In this role, you will lead mechanical design delivery within a multi-disciplinary team focused on water sector projects. You’ll work on pumping, water and wastewater treatment designs, coordinating engineers to meet high-quality standards for landmark UK infrastructure programmes. You’ll engage with clients and cross-functional teams to manage scope, time, and budgets, while mentoring junior engineers and contributing to bid support. Responsibilities
- Coordinate or manage a mechanical design delivery team on complex multi-disciplinary projects
- Produce and review technical deliverables (design reports, drawings, calculations, scopes of work)
- Provide technical input for mechanical aspects of projects and support project management to meet milestones and budgets
- Collaborate with clients, operations, project, and service teams
- Mentor less experienced colleagues and grow local mechanical engineering capabilities
- Work independently with minimal technical guidance and provide guidance to juniors
- Support bids with technical input and contribute to integrated design solutions
- Adhere to QA standards including check and review of own and others’ work
Key requirements
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Chartered or Incorporated Mechanical Engineer
- Experience coordinating or managing a mechanical design delivery team in a design consultancy
- Broad perspective to identify innovative design solutions
- Strong knowledge of mechanical equipment (pumps, blowers, screens, chemical dosing) and UK design standards
- Experience with CDM and DSEAR
- Ability to work independently with minimal guidance
- Proficiency in applicable analytical software
- Experience in the Water Sector
