Overview

In this role you will support the design, operation and continuous improvement of the first-line Controls Framework and RCSA across FTSE Russell. You will work closely with Product, Operations, Engineering and governance stakeholders to uplift control documentation, ownership and evidence standards. You will lead workshops, quality reviews and control rationalisation to drive a more risk-aligned, assurance-ready control environment. This is a chance to shape control governance in a regulated financial services setting.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and enhance the FTSE Russell Controls Framework
  • Develop and maintain control standards, guidance and templates
  • Ensure clear, measurable, testable control descriptions and ownership
  • Support governance on design, ownership and evidence standards
  • Align controls to LSEG requirements and regulatory expectations
  • Provide guidance on documentation, objectives, frequency, evidence and ownership
  • Maintain and update framework materials for accessibility and operating model alignment
  • Embed framework requirements through workshops and guidance sessions
  • Conduct controls inventory reviews, classify and rationalise controls
  • Identify duplicates, overlaps, obsolete controls and unclear ownership
  • Support control redesign, frequency, accountability, evidence standards, lifecycle governance
  • Track uplift actions, due dates and remediation progress
  • Standardise control inventory across functions and processes
  • Map controls to processes, risks and objectives
  • Maintain process-risk-control inventories with clear linkages
  • Ensure controls align with risk architecture and positioning in the process
  • Integrate control data into RCSA, incident reviews and audits
  • Identify opportunities to improve coverage and ownership
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to clarify steps and evidence requirements
  • Link controls to risks, issues, incidents and remediation activities
  • Coordinate RCSA activities, workshops and action plans
  • Review RCSA submissions for quality and evidence-based rationale
  • Challenge risk ratings and control assessments where needed
  • Monitor remediation progress and ownership
  • Translate RCSA outcomes into issues and process improvements
  • Ensure RCSA outputs support incidents, audit findings and risk themes
  • Improve RCSA methodology, cadence, templates and data quality
  • Produce and support governance MI for forums and senior management
  • Analyze trends in control effectiveness, incidents and remediation
  • Prepare governance reporting with accurate, evidence-based outputs
  • Monitor KPIs on maturity and documentation quality
  • Identify emerging themes and improvement actions
  • Support stakeholder engagement across Product, Operations, Engineering and Functions
  • Provide guidance on framework and RCSA expectations
  • Facilitate workshops and challenge sessions
  • Communicate risk concepts clearly to varied audiences
  • Support audits, assurance activities and regulatory inquiries
  • Escalate material gaps and ownership issues
  • Act as a coordination point for controls and RCSA in the first line
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and consistency
  • Support improvements to MetricStream and related systems
  • Promote adoption of controls best practices and governance standards
  • Foster a culture of disciplined follow-through and accountability
  • Connect controls with incidents, issues, audit findings and risk appetite

Key requirements

  • Experience in operational risk, controls, audit, governance, compliance or similar regulated environment
  • Understanding of control design, ownership, evidence, testing and lifecycle management
  • Experience conducting control reviews and assurance activities
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify themes and opportunities
  • Ability to challenge control documentation and ensure clear ownership
  • Experience facilitating workshops or stakeholder reviews
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Experience producing management information, dashboards or governance materials
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
