Overview
In this role you lead fire safety across a high‑risk construction and commissioning site, shaping safety arrangements and ensuring readiness. You will work within the CommOps Fire Safety team to influence stakeholders and foster a strong safety culture. Your impact spans regulatory compliance, risk assessment, and operational readiness for Hinkley Point C. You’ll balance strategic oversight with hands‑on engagement and support EDF’s mission toward safer, reliable energy infrastructure. This is a mission‑critical role with meaningful scope to shape safety at a major UK project.

Responsibilities
- Lead the Fire Safety Management Plan development and assurance
- Manage and mentor a team of fire safety professionals
- Provide expert fire safety guidance across construction, commissioning and pre‑operations
- Oversee fire risk assessments and DSEAR compliance activities
- Engage contractors, regulators and internal teams to improve fire safety performance
Key requirements
- Level 4 Fire Safety qualification with an approved professional body (e.g., Institute of Fire Engineers)
- Fire safety experience in complex construction, process or nuclear environments
- Proven experience leading and implementing Fire Safety Management Systems on nuclear licensed sites
- Strong knowledge of UK and international fire safety standards and CDM Regulations
- Experience developing and assuring fire risk assessments in high‑risk environments
- CTC security vetting eligibility (residency requirement)
