Senior Electrical Design Engineer

Overview

As a Senior Electrical Design Engineer, you will own electrical design projects from concept through commissioning for material handling systems. You will collaborate with manufacturing, installation and engineering teams to deliver high-quality solutions. You will mentor junior engineers, contribute to new product development and drive continuous improvement across the engineering department. Responsibilities

• Design electrical control systems for bespoke projects
• Produce and maintain electrical schematics and documentation using CAD software
• Select and specify electrical components, cabling and control equipment
• Configure and support PLCs and VFDs
• Provide technical support during build, testing, commissioning and fault finding
• Assist with prototype development, testing and design validation
• Mentor junior engineers within the team
• Collaborate with production, installation and project teams to ensure successful delivery
• Identify opportunities to improve engineering processes, product quality and efficiency
• Ensure designs comply with electrical standards and company quality procedures

Key requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
• At least 5 years’ experience in an Electrical Design role
• Experience designing electrical control panels
• Strong knowledge of PLCs and variable frequency drives
• Experience producing electrical schematics using Electrical CAD software
• Ability to interpret and apply electrical standards and best practices
• Strong communication skills across departments
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
• Experience in material handling or similar engineering environment (desirable)
