Overview
In this role you will lead process engineering design for wastewater and water reuse projects within a multidisciplinary Water Engineering team. You will guide feasibility through detailed design, contribute to procurement and construction, and liaise with clients and vendors to deliver high-quality outcomes. You’ll work on diverse, landmark projects across the UK and overseas, shaping solutions that support sustainable water management. This is a hands-on, client-facing role with opportunities to mentor junior staff and influence project delivery in a global firm.

Responsibilities
- Produce process design deliverables including optioneering studies, mass balances, P&IDs, and basis of design reports
- Undertake outline or detailed process engineering design
- Attend site visits for data collection and operator engagement
- Provide technical input to procurement and support project managers in client discussions
- Coordinate with technology providers and vendors; participate in HAZOP/HAZID/ENVID/SWIFT
- Mentor and supervise junior staff; collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure design integration
- Support proposals with scope, schedule, and budget input; liaise with internal/external clients to meet needs
Key requirements
- Significant experience delivering process engineering design on infrastructure projects; lead process engineering role on a project or major task
- Experience in the municipal water industry
- Ability to work largely unsupervised on design deliverables
- Experience delivering studies from feasibility to detail design in wastewater treatment (municipal or industrial)
- Understanding of circular economy and Zero Liquid Discharge concepts; exposure to tertiary treatments
- Consultancy or engineering company background; ability to prepare technical reports and present to diverse audiences
- Confident, articulate communicator; capable of leading multi-disciplinary meetings and representing the organization externally
