Overview
In this Project Electrical Engineer role at Crown, you will design and program production line controls for can making systems, collaborating daily with PM&E’s project managers and engineering and operations teams. You will deliver electrical designs, PLC/HMI programs, and commissioning activities to ensure reliable, well-documented line control solutions. Your work supports continuous improvement, standardisation, and successful project delivery from pre-delivery to post-project reviews. This is a hands-on, cross-functional role with a clear impact on line performance and site readiness.
Responsibilities
- Prepare production line control designs, documents, PLC programs, and HMI programs for can making lines using Rockwell ControlLogix/CompactLogix
- Develop Rockwell PanelView PLUS HMI and Powerflex drives configurations
- Monitor supplier/contractor work to ensure compliance with design specs
- Conduct pre-delivery inspections and testing
- Verify electrical designs and installations for constructability
- Commission line control systems and complete commissioning records
- Train operational staff and provide punch lists for remediation
- Assemble “As Built” drawings for modifications and variations
- Participate in post-project reviews for continuous improvement and standardisation
Key requirements
- PLC control system design and programming
- HMI design and programming
- Electrical panel design, installation and commissioning
- AutoCAD experience
- Industrial Ethernet experience (desirable)
- Conveying systems experience (desirable)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Computer literacy (word processing and spreadsheets)
- Fluent in English
