Overview
In this role you will develop and implement lean, high-quality manufacturing processes for precision components in an aerospace setting. You’ll contribute to NPI programs and advise on DFM, PPAP, and GD&T to drive quality, cost, and delivery improvements. The position supports the supply chain and mentors engineers and technicians, with a focus on tooling, gauging, and fixture design. This role offers hands-on problem solving in a regulated environment and opportunities to influence product manufacturability while collaborating across teams.

Responsibilities
- Develop and implement lean manufacturing processes prioritizing quality, cost, and delivery
- Create machining processes for complex, tight-tolerance parts using CAD/CAM tools
- Select cutting tools, design fixtures, and generate shop documentation
- Support APQP activities including DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plans, and MSA studies
- Lead and support process improvement projects to minimize downtime
- Review engineering drawings for manufacturability and propose design changes to improve productivity and standardisation
- Provide technical support to the supply chain to meet quality, cost, and delivery targets
- Mentor Manufacturing Engineers and Technicians in tooling, gauging, and fixture design
Key requirements
- Significant experience in manufacturing/process engineering, preferably in aerospace or regulated environments
- Strong knowledge of DFM, DFSS, APQP, Lean, and Zero Defects principles
- Proven CNC programming with 3D CAD/CAM tools (Partmaker/Featurecam preferred; Siemens NX10.0, Vericut)
- Experience with sliding head machines (Star machines preferred but not essential)
- Exposure to EDM, honing, lapping, grinding, flow deburring, anodising, and heat treatment
