Overview
As Legal Counsel (Commercial) at Wayve, you support a broad range of commercial matters to scale our Embodied AI tech globally. You’ll draft and negotiate supplier, software/SaaS, services and OEM/Tier 1 contracts, and advise on IP, AI data usage, and privacy. You’ll partner with cross-functional teams to manage risk while enabling business growth, including international expansion and fleet operations. This role combines law, product, and scale in a fast-paced, tech-driven environment.

Responsibilities
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial agreements (supplier, software/SaaS, services, OEM/Tier 1 contracts) with IP, data privacy, and tech considerations
- Advising on intellectual property, AI and data usage, and other commercial matters in collaboration with internal and external counsel
- Advising on employment matters affecting a global workforce with local counsel as needed
- Advising on data protection/privacy matters related to data use in Wayve’s products and AI development
- Developing scalable processes, templates, playbooks, and governance to support growth and contracting volume
- Supporting strategic initiatives, international expansion and product deployments from a commercial legal perspective
- Supporting operational teams (e.g., Fleet Operations) in vehicle testing/deployment across markets
- Educating the business on commercial risk and contracting best practices and supporting other Legal Team members
Key requirements
- Qualified solicitor in England and Wales
- 2–4 years post-qualification experience (or equivalent)
- Strong experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements (procurement, supply chain, technology, vendor contracts)
- Clear, pragmatic communication of legal positions to non-legal stakeholders
- Experience supporting strategic commercial transactions in fast-moving, tech-driven environments
- Strong commercial judgement with practical, risk-aware advice
- Experience advising on employment matters affecting a global workforce
- Ability to work autonomously on day-to-day matters and manage multiple workstreams
- Cross-functional collaboration with business stakeholders and local counsel where needed
- Willingness to tackle novel legal and commercial questions with limited precedent
