As a Senior Electrical Engineer in AECOM’s Water Team, you will design and review electrical and ICA elements for water and wastewater projects, guiding the work from feasibility to construction. You’ll collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, mentor junior staff, and support bids while ensuring compliance with standards. The role integrates digital design tools to improve quality and efficiency, contributing to high-impact water infrastructure across the UK. Responsibilities
- Design and review electrical and ICA components for water/wastewater projects
- Perform site surveys and liaise with clients, contractors and suppliers
- Create/load schedules, single line diagrams, MCC arrangements, instrument schedules, and cable calculations
- Develop PLC/SCADA concepts, control philosophy, URS, specifications, and technical reports
- Contribute to P&ID inputs, site surveys, and data gathering
- Engage in all design stages (Feasibility to Construction) and ensure compliance with standards
- Collaborate with other disciplines and manage client communications
- Mentor junior staff and support bid/proposal activities
- Deliver quality designs within budgets and timelines for a range of water clients
- Utilise digital tools (BIM, Projectwise, intelligent P&ID, in-house tools) to improve design processes
Key requirements
- Proven experience in water and wastewater engineering design
- BEng or MEng in a related engineering field with water/wastewater treatment experience
- Chartered or near Chartered with a relevant Professional Institution
- Experience as a senior engineer in a consultancy within the water sector
- Project management, task delegation, and technical mentoring experience
- Collaboration and cross-disciplinary teamwork
