Overview
In this role you will lead economics work in energy and natural resources, supporting regulators, law firms, and corporate clients with rigorous analyses and expert testimony. You will work within a London office as part of NERA Economic Consulting, contributing to policy evaluation, market design, and dispute resolution. You will manage multiple projects, shape analytic strategies, and develop client relationships that drive impactful recommendations. This is an opportunity to influence energy policy and energy-market reforms through data-driven economics at scale.

Responsibilities
- Conduct energy policy, utility regulation, market design, and transactions/ disputes analyses across energy, utility, and infrastructure sectors
- Take project management responsibility for regulatory, advisory, due diligence, and expert engagement projects
- Perform high-powered economic research using sophisticated modelling techniques
- Prepare client-ready research reports and presentations for senior staff and clients
- Influence project strategy and prepare/substantiate oral and written submissions
- Collaborate with in-house experts and external academics
- Engage in management and business development activities, including scoping projects and writing proposals
- Manage multiple projects concurrently and oversee staff recruitment
- Travel as required
Key requirements
- Master’s or PhD in Economics, Finance or related field with strong academics
- 6+ years of relevant experience in economic consulting, government, or regulatory settings
- Experience writing consulting or expert reports for legal proceedings
- Proactive, entrepreneurial approach to client development and relationship building
- Fluent English; additional languages desirable
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills; strong analytical, empirical, and technical abilities
