Overview

In this senior leadership role, you will lead protection, resilience, and live operation of FCA’s critical tech and AI-enabled services. You’ll drive enterprise-scale AI security, resilience, and supplier assurance as part of the Data, Technology and Innovation leadership team. You’ll shape controls for safe AI deployment, manage major technology and AI risks, and report performance to executive forums. This is a strategic opportunity to strengthen the regulator’s technology foundations and public trust in an evolving AI landscape.

Responsibilities

  • Lead AI vulnerability and threat management across model risks, data dependencies, and agentic systems.
  • Ensure resilience of critical services and enable effective recovery from incidents.
  • Establish operational frameworks for safe AI deployment including oversight, monitoring, and containment.
  • Act as accountable owner for technology and AI risk, overseeing control design and assurance activities.
  • Provide metrics-driven updates to senior committees and Board-level forums on resilience and risk posture.
  • Manage supplier and third-party risk across cloud platforms, AI providers, and data partners.
  • Oversee live operations disciplines: incident, problem, change management, testing, and recovery validation.
  • Develop and maintain a high-performing, cross-functional department spanning tech risk, AI ops, cybersecurity, continuity, supplier management and live-service ops.
  • Balance budget, headcount, and supplier spend to drive efficiency, resilience, and value for money.
  • Represent FCA externally to government, regulators, and industry bodies on AI, technology, and resilience.

Key requirements

  • Hands-on experience with AI or agentic AI technologies
  • Familiarity with UK regulatory frameworks on operational resilience, critical third parties, cyber resilience, and AI governance
  • Experience in financial services, government, regulatory, or other highly regulated environments
  • Strong stakeholder management and ability to engage with senior leaders and external partners
  • Evidence of managing complex supplier relationships and contracts
  • Knowledge of NIST AI RMF, ISO 42001, ISO 27001, DORA or similar frameworks
  • Ability to manage risk, embed best practices, and drive change
  • In-depth knowledge across Engineering, DevOps, AI, Cyber Security and Cloud platforms
  • Experience driving change, process efficiency, and innovation
