Senior Electrical Design Engineer

Overview

In this role you will lead electrical building services design across multiple projects, from feasibility to delivery, within a multidisciplinary consultancy. You will work closely with clients and design teams to translate briefs into compliant designs and robust project plans. You’ll manage resources, mentor junior engineers, and drive quality through documentation and reviews. This is a client-facing, impact-oriented position in Glasgow with exposure to varied sectors and project scales.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design on multiple small projects, or act as lead on medium projects, or support large-scale projects
• Perform feasibility and viability assessments early in projects
• Create conceptual and detailed electrical designs per client briefs and standards
• Support project implementation planning and resource estimation
• Manage resources to meet internal budgets
• Prepare clear reports for stakeholders
• Produce and review electrical drawings using AutoCAD
• Conduct electrical calculations and modelling as needed
• Lead and chair project meetings with internal and external stakeholders
• Mentor, review, and approve junior engineers’ work
• Participate in quality control and document management
• Support internal project management activities including programme planning
• Undertake other duties as required

Key requirements

• Degree-qualified in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or related discipline
• Chartered Engineer status or nearing completion with a recognized professional body
• Proven experience delivering electrical building services design in a consultancy
• Strong technical knowledge of electrical systems and UK standards/regulations
• Confident communicator with client and design team experience
• Comfortable mentoring junior engineers and contributing to team development
