Overview
In this role you lead the delivery of Birmingham’s green infrastructure and landscape development, guiding a multidisciplinary team to deliver transformative parks and green spaces. You will secure external investment, influence major regeneration programs, and keep green infrastructure at the core of the city’s development agenda. You’ll shape sustainable projects, manage budgets, and collaborate with developers, planning teams and communities to maximise impact. This is a high‑visibility, strategic position with a clear mandate to enhance biodiversity and quality of life across a major UK city.

Responsibilities
- Lead delivery of green infrastructure and landscape development projects in Birmingham
- Oversee the Landscape Development team ensuring high performance and development
- Develop and maintain a pipeline of innovative green space projects
- Secure funding via grants, Section 106, and other opportunities
- Collaborate with developers, planning colleagues, community groups and external partners
- Represent Parks & Green Spaces in major regeneration and development programmes
- Monitor budgets and perform financial planning and forecasting
- Prepare reports and briefing papers for senior officers and elected members
- Manage framework agreements and ensure timely, within-budget, high-environmental-standards delivery
Key requirements
- Chartered Membership of the Landscape Institute
- Significant experience in landscape architecture/landscape management/capital project management
- Extensive experience delivering complex landscape, environmental, or urban development projects
- Experience managing substantial budgets and securing external funding
- Proven success negotiating and managing Section 106 agreements
- Experience building relationships with developers, local authorities and stakeholders
- Excellent project management, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with report/presentation delivery
- Knowledge of green infrastructure planning, sustainable urban design and landscape architecture principles
- Knowledge of emerging trends in green infrastructure including climate-resilient design
