Overview
In this Consultant Psychiatrist role based at Cross Lane Hospital, you will provide expert assessment and medical leadership across two wards within an MDT. You will guide formulation, diagnosis and management, support safe prescribing, and supervise pharmacological and psychosocial care. The position includes teaching, service development, and opportunities for protected time to pursue research or education with local colleagues. You will contribute to the TEWV medical workforce charter and broader service improvement.
Responsibilities
- Provide senior medical leadership to the wards and MDT
- Assist in assessment, diagnosis, and care planning across complex cases
- Support safe and effective prescribing decisions with the team
- Provide supervision and leadership in medical care and psychosocial interventions
- Participate in morning report outs, MDT meetings, and professionals meetings
- Contribute to teaching and training for staff as required
- Support Nurse Consultants in their roles as Approved Clinicians and Non-medical prescribers
- Engage in research, education or service development in protected time
Key requirements
- MB BS or equivalent medical qualification
- Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise
- Eligible for inclusion in the Specialist Register in the Specialty or within 6 months of gaining CCT
- Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
- Approved under S12 OR able to achieve with 3 months of appointment
- Experience of working within the specialty
- Ability to meet duties under MHA and MCA
