Overview
In this role you will lead the commercial management for the M54 to M6 Link Scheme within Skanska’s Infrastructure team. You’ll oversee cost control, subcontract administration, and the commercial strategy to maximise value while meeting contractual requirements. You’ll mentor and guide quantity surveyors and graduates, and ensure robust forecasting, reporting, and governance across the project. The position offers involvement in major highway civil engineering works and exposure to NEC-style contracts. This is a strategic, hands-on commercial leadership role that shapes project outcomes and supports Skanska’s mission to deliver essential infrastructure.

Responsibilities
- Lead commercial management activities from start to final account
- Mentor and develop Quantity Surveyors, Assistant Quantity Surveyors and graduates
- Oversee subcontract procurement, administration, and performance management
- Support procurement through Cl 26 acceptance and internal governance requirements
- Implement and manage change control processes including variations and compensation events
- Ensure robust cost forecasting and financial control across projects
- Prepare and review monthly CVR and commercial reports
Key requirements
- Proven senior commercial experience in highways or civil engineering
- Strong track record in subcontract management, change management and variation control, cost forecasting, cost control and commercial reporting
- Experience on National Highways, local authority, or government-funded projects (preferred)
- Knowledge of NEC or similar contracts
- Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills
- Degree in Quantity Surveying or related discipline (or equivalent experience)
