Project Controls Specialists – All Levels – Planning

Overview

In this PMO-focused role, you will support project controls for major infrastructure programmes across the Yorkshire and Northeast region. You will collaborate with cost and planning engineers to set up baselines, monitor progress and costs, and deliver clear performance reports that inform client decisions. The position offers exposure to diverse sectors and mobility across projects, with strong development opportunities under a supportive management network. You will contribute to a culture of excellence and continuous improvement while working on high-profile projects.

Responsibilities

• Develop work breakdown structures and robust performance baselines with cost/plan inputs
• Establish progress and cost monitoring methods and produce project control reports
• Provide performance analysis and actionable recommendations to clients
• Collaborate with planning/cost engineers and support schedule construction and baseline management
• Conduct schedule monitoring and control, including variance reporting and issue escalation
• Support assurance reviews to ensure high-quality schedules
• Handle client-facing communications as part of the project controls team
• Utilise tools like Primavera P6, Power BI, and Office applications to deliver insights
• Support SOX control responsibilities where applicable

Key requirements

• Experience in a project controls environment within infrastructure (Energy, Defence, Rail, Airports, Highways, Water/Utilities)
• Experience in Programme Controls Management, Earned Value (EVM), Change & Risk Management, Planning, Project Controls or PMO
• Graduate with some experience in project control environment
• Experience using Primavera P6, Power BI, Microsoft Office
• Strong time management, ability to meet deadlines, and independent work capability
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Knowledge of best practice planning principles and technical competence in schedule construction
• Experience with schedule assurance tools (Schedlog, Acumen Fuse) or a willingness to self-check work
