Highway Design Engineer

Overview

In this role, you will deliver highway and infrastructure designs from concept to detailed design for a respected international consultancy. You’ll work within a multidisciplinary team to shape active travel and drainage schemes while coordinating with clients and authorities. The position focuses on delivering high-profile projects, meeting timescales and budgets, and advancing your technical expertise. Responsibilities

• Deliver highway and infrastructure design projects from concept through to detailed design
• Prepare highways, active travel and drainage designs
• Work on Section 278, Section 38 and associated technical approvals
• Produce detailed drainage layouts, profiles and technical drawings
• Coordinate with clients, local authorities and multi-disciplinary teams
• Contribute to road safety, transport and infrastructure projects
• Support project delivery to agreed timescales and budgets

Key requirements

• UK highways and infrastructure design experience
• Knowledge of S278 / S38 approvals and drainage agreements
• Experience using AutoCAD, Civil 3D and associated software
• Understanding of DMRB, Manual for Streets and relevant design standards
• Strong communication and technical coordination skills
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment
• Membership of CIHT, ICE or similar professional body advantageous
