Overview
In this role you lead hands-on design of basement and retrofit schemes within a London-based studio. You own projects from site surveys to propping, integrating full technical scope with the design. You work closely with consultants and clients to deliver buildable, practical solutions at scale. The position offers genuine ownership of technically demanding work, not just sign-off duties. You will shape projects in a specialist practice focused on retrofit and basement engineering, with meaningful impact for a diverse client base.
Responsibilities
- lead design of basement and retrofit schemes with end-to-end ownership
- conduct site surveys and manage propping design and planning requirements
- produce structural calculations and planning reports for approvals
- coordinate with consultants, clients, and contractors to ensure buildability
- drive technically rigorous, practical solutions across residential, commercial, and educational projects
- contribute to project reviews and ensure compliance with relevant standards
Key requirements
