Pre-sales Engineering Manager (Retail & CPG)

Overview

As the Manager, Field Engineering (Data and AI), you lead a pre-sales Solutions Architect team to drive adoption and revenue in UK&I, focusing on Retail and Consumer Packaged Goods. You partner with sales to accelerate platform uptake, coach engineers, and scale the team without sacrificing quality. You set the tone for collaboration and customer-centric delivery, guiding strategic opportunities and directly engaging with senior customer stakeholders. This role blends leadership, technical vision, and go-to-market impact to shape how we win in complex accounts.

Responsibilities

• Hire, onboard, and build the Pre-Sales Solutions Architect team
• Scale the designated team rapidly while maintaining quality
• Lead by example, leveraging AI to improve day-to-day workflows
• Foster a collaborative, high-velocity culture aligned with Databricks values
• Contribute to increasing consumption revenue through involved SA participation in sales cycles
• Promote a solution and value-based selling approach within field engineering
• Understand business needs and revenue potential for regional accounts
• Build and promote Databricks’ brand in UK&I in partnership with Marketing and Sales
• Engage directly with key customer stakeholders to accelerate projects and technical decisions
• Inspire customers and evolve processes to support business and technical growth

Key requirements

• AI-native builder mindset to enhance personal and team productivity
• Experience in a pre-sales leadership role, managing Big Data, AI, or Cloud professionals
• Customer-facing experience in Retail and CPG sectors in the UK & Ireland
• Experience developing go-to-market (GTM) strategies
• Background in complex strategic accounts
• Experience scaling and mentoring field and technical teams
• Knowledge and passion for data-driven decisions, AI, and Cloud software models
• Ability to establish processes that improve efficiency for technical field members
