Senior Development Underwriter/Manager – Construction & Casualty

Overview

In this role you will lead the development and delivery of Pen Underwriting’s new Construction & Casualty business plan. You will build and convert profitable opportunities through broker relationships, negotiate facilities, and act as a senior market-facing representative. You’ll underwrite complex risks, provide technical guidance, and mentor the team to achieve shared goals. Responsibilities

• Lead the development and delivery of the new business plan for Construction & Casualty
• Develop and convert opportunities through broker relationships
• Negotiate and manage facilities in line with underwriting discipline and insurer appetite
• Represent Pen’s Construction & Casualty proposition to the market
• Underwrite complex risks and provide technical guidance to colleagues
• Mentor and coach the team to achieve shared goals

Key requirements

• Underwriting Construction & Casualty risks, including complex cases
• Proven track record in developing and converting new business via brokers
• Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills
• Knowledge of delegated facilities and portfolio management
• Commercial awareness and sound underwriting judgment
• Leadership experience with mentoring/coaching
• IT proficiency and commitment to personal development
• CII/Dip CII qualification or progress towards it
