Overview

As Operational Manager, you will lead a multidisciplinary Talking Therapies team and oversee multiple localities. You will work with the Service Manager and Clinical Team Leads to deliver a high-quality, cost-effective service and drive performance improvements. The role involves networking with Primary Care Networks and other local services to expand reach and collaboration. You will manage performance, welfare, and non-clinical risk while supporting staff development, primarily working from home with periodic presence at Surrey locations. This is a growth-focused leadership role in a patient-centred NHS service.

Responsibilities

  • Lead operational management of service delivery in defined localities
  • Provide line and meta-line management, including performance and welfare
  • Support service development and governance, including complaints/incident management
  • Develop and implement service improvements within budget
  • Collaborate with Service Manager, Clinical Team Leads and wider team
  • Monitor waitlists and ensure locations meet staff and patient needs
  • Represent the service to external stakeholders and work with primary care networks
  • Deputise for Service Manager/Clinical Lead when required
  • Promote a safe, health-focused workplace and manage non-clinical risk
  • Drive workforce development and targets in line with organisational aims

Key requirements

  • Experience as an operational Leader in health services
  • Experience in managing performance and welfare of staff
  • Experience in managing operational aspects of service delivery
  • Experience providing effective Line management
  • Experience working to governance standards including complaints and incident management
  • Experience working in a target-driven service
  • Desirable: experience in a Primary Care environment; experience with record systems IAPTUS, SystmOne or RADAR
  • Highly developed communication skills
  • Ability to motivate, develop and inspire others
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritise under pressure
  • IT skills including Microsoft Office
  • Experience with IT record systems (IAPTUS, SystmOne, RADAR)
  • Ability to monitor operational processes and escalate when needed
