Overview
As Building Safety Manager, you will oversee a portfolio of high-rise residential buildings to ensure compliance with current and emerging fire and building safety regulations. You’ll promote a strong safety culture and engage residents, contractors, and regulators to identify, track, and mitigate risks. This role sits in Lewisham’s Building Safety Team, working across the council to keep resident safety at the forefront. You’ll operate in a dynamic environment, balancing inspections, collaboration, and communication to deliver safe, well-managed buildings. Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of high-rise residential buildings to ensure effective safety management
- Ensure compliance with current and emerging building and fire safety regulations
- Promote a culture of building safety and resident engagement across the organisation
- Collaborate with residents, contractors, and enforcing/regulatory authorities to identify, manage, and monitor safety risks and actions
- Conduct or oversee regular inspections of high-rise blocks and coordinate safety actions
Key requirements
- Over five years’ relevant construction experience and/or a Level 4 Diploma in Fire Safety or equivalent
- Evidence of successful completion and equivalence accepted before appointment
- Membership of the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE) or similar fire safety body is desirable
- Full UK driving licence
- Basic DBS check
