Overview
In this Procurement Manager role, you will lead procurement for major highway/civil projects across the South East. You’ll shape the procurement strategy, manage supplier relationships, and drive cost-saving outcomes within a large project team. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure timely delivery, contract robustness, and compliance with business systems. This is a strategic role with impact on supply chain capability and future work winning.

Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the project procurement strategy and update it over the project lifecycle
- Manage and deliver the project procurement schedules with the project team
- Lead the project procurement team and ensure timely delivery against milestones
- Implement the supply chain strategy for the business
- Ensure subcontract documents are robust and contracts in place before work starts
- Audit-readiness of subcontractors and alignment with safety, environmental, technical, programme and commercial needs
- Support strategic work winning by developing supply chain capability and capacity
- Ensure compliance with Business Management Systems (BMS) and pre-contract administration
Key requirements
- Excellent communication skills at all levels
- Experience dealing with subcontractors and suppliers
- Advanced negotiation skills and training
- Strong understanding of category management
- Ability to set up and nurture a high-performing procurement team for tenders/ITTs
- Good knowledge of legal frameworks and contract law
- Working knowledge of ORACLE
- Ability to understand customer and business needs and prioritise work
- Understanding of supplier relationship management
- Strong commercial acumen and organisational/time management
- Proven track record in high-value/high-risk tenders/ITTs and cost savings
- Experience in procurement at senior level in a large organisation
