Overview
In this role, you will support the reliability and performance of a multi-axis CNC machining environment. You will work within a cross-disciplinary maintenance team to minimise downtime, implement preventative maintenance, and drive equipment efficiency. You will tackle mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and control-system faults and lead continuous improvement initiatives. The position offers the chance to shape maintenance strategies, support new CNC equipment installation, and collaborate with production to elevate machining practices. This is a hands-on, impact-focused opportunity in a manufacturing setting.
Responsibilities
- Provide first-line maintenance support for CNC breakdowns to minimise production downtime
- Plan, implement and manage TPM activities across CNC equipment
- Develop and manage preventative maintenance schedules to improve machine reliability
- Diagnose and resolve faults across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, vacuum and control systems
- Perform electrical fault-finding and basic three-phase electrical maintenance
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions
- Drive continuous improvement using TPM, Kaizen, 5S and PDCA
- Collaborate with production to promote best machining practices and maximise equipment performance
- Support procurement, installation and commissioning of new CNC equipment
- Assess maintenance risks and recommend critical spare parts
- Train and support operators in routine preventive maintenance
- Collaborate with stakeholders on long-term maintenance and equipment improvement strategies
Key requirements
- Completed an engineering apprenticeship or equivalent qualification with at least five years’ experience maintaining CNC machining equipment in manufacturing
- Strong mechanical and electrical maintenance experience on multi-axis CNC milling machines
- Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, vacuum systems, PLC diagnostics and basic PLC programming
- Experience diagnosing electrical faults and performing basic three-phase electrical work
- Familiarity with CNC control systems such as Fanuc, Haas, Siemens, Heidenhain or similar
- Proven experience implementing preventative maintenance programs and TPM
- Understanding of CMMS and preventive maintenance planning
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement techniques (TPM, Kaizen, 5S, PDCA)
- Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills
