Overview
As Principal/Associate Civil Engineer, lead and develop the London civils team within a multidisciplinary engineering consultancy. You will balance hands-on technical delivery with people, project, and client leadership, reporting to the Civils Discipline Lead. You’ll guide concept-to-construction civil infrastructure for highways, drainage and SuDS, while growing the London workload and maintaining strong client relations. This role combines technical expertise with strategic team growth and business development, in a collaborative, growth-focused environment.

Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the London civils team
- Coordinate workloads, resources and project delivery
- Provide technical guidance and design reviews
- Manage civil engineering projects from concept to construction
- Deliver highways, drainage, SuDS and development infrastructure
- Collaborate with clients, architects, contractors, and design teams
- Manage project budgets, programmes and technical deliverables
- Mentor and develop engineers and technicians
- Support fee proposals, bids and business development
- Grow London civils workload and client base
- Collaborate with the Civils Discipline Lead on broader discipline development
Key requirements
- Strong UK civil engineering consultancy experience
- Experience leading, managing or mentoring engineers
- Technical knowledge across highways, drainage, SuDS and development infrastructure
- Experience managing projects and client relationships
- Good commercial awareness
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Chartered status or working towards Chartership
