Finance Project Manager

Overview

In this role you will drive the financial strategy for a major rail project, partnering with project leadership to deliver accurate forecasts and robust financial analysis. You will support decision-making with reliable financial insights, manage liquidity and contract margins, and ensure governance and risk mitigation across the project. This position sits at the intersection of finance and project delivery, offering exposure to bids, tender stages and cross-functional collaboration. You will contribute to sustainable mobility by enabling financially sound project execution from the Old Oak Common base.

Responsibilities

• Prepare timely forecasts for sales, costs, margin and cash
• Manage and analyze costs, revenue and profitability
• Provide finance advisory to project stakeholders and support decision-making
• Participate in project management processes with PMs
• Support risks and opportunities processes and sign off contingencies/savings
• Monitor financial performance and propose action plans to improve margin and cash
• Provide early warnings on financial impacts of project operations and risks
• Ensure governance and regulatory compliance in project reporting
• Advise on contractual terms and competitiveness from a financial perspective
• Monitor liquidity and working capital, promote cash culture
• Involvement in bids and tender stages for service projects
• Support monthly closing and reporting of project financials
• Ensure timely billing processes and assist with Expense Summary

Key requirements

• CIMA/ACCA or equivalent (highly desirable)
• Project operational background is an advantage
• Solid organizational and prioritization skills
• Ability to influence and coordinate reporting cross-functionally
• Effective communication in English (written and spoken)
• Autonomous and self-motivated
• Excellent MS Excel; SAP knowledge; Power Query and Power BI desirable
