Overview

In this founding role, you help build the Analytics API and the underlying infrastructure for Neo4j Aura’s Product Analytics Platform. You define the data contracts and schemas used by multiple product teams, enabling a single integration point across Aura. You design scalable ingestion, ensure reliability, and drive cross-team adoption through documentation and RFCs. You join a collaborative, product-focused environment that values pragmatic technical decisions and measurable impact.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and operate the Analytics API and its underlying infrastructure, defining the cross-team schema and integration contracts
  • Make pragmatic architectural choices for event ingestion, data contracts, reliability, and scalability
  • Create a simple integration layer for product teams to emit analytics events without coupling to data infrastructure
  • Drive API adoption across Engineering, providing guidance and documentation
  • Maintain separation of product analytics and billing concerns while streamlining data flows
  • Evaluate build vs. buy choices in the analytics/data stack (e.g., Segment, BigQuery)
  • Collaborate with downstream data pipeline teams to ensure reliable, usable raw events
  • Define platform evolution through RFCs, docs, and cross-team collaboration

Key requirements

  • Strong backend software engineering experience with Go as primary language
  • Experience designing well-defined APIs and integration contracts (schemas, compatibility, validation)
  • Experience building production Go services (utilities to long-running microservices)
  • Some experience with TypeScript/JavaScript in mixed backend/frontend codebases
  • Familiarity with event-driven systems, data ingestion, or data pipelines (Segment, BigQuery)
  • Ability to work independently in a new area and drive progress with limited direction
  • Comfort writing RFCs and technical docs and promoting adoption across teams
