Overview

In this role you provide system safety support on large, complex rail projects and lead smaller projects under senior guidance. You will chair hazard identification or risk workshops, prepare safety documentation, and apply CSM-RA to deliver safe, effective rail solutions. You collaborate with clients and internal teams to shape designs, standards, and requirements, and you may act as Project Manager on smaller initiatives. Responsibilities

  • Chair or support Hazard Identification and/or Risk Assessment workshops
  • Prepare System Definitions, Safety Plans, Hazard Records and Safety Justification Reports
  • Demonstrate CSM-RA application for rail projects delivering change
  • Collaborate with clients and internal teams to develop designs, standards, and requirements
  • Act as Project Manager for smaller projects with senior support

Key requirements

  • Degree in a technical engineering discipline, or extensive relevant experience
  • Post-graduate experience in system safety engineering (rail desirable)
  • Professional membership with SaRS, IET, or IMechE
  • Registration as Incorporated or Chartered Engineer (or working towards)
  • Familiarity with Engineering Safety Management (iESM or Yellow Book)
  • Knowledge of CSM-RA Regulation on UK rail projects
  • Background in mainline or metro railway disciplines (signalling, telecoms, E&P)
