Overview
In this year-long placement, you will split time between design and construction teams within the United Utilities framework, contributing to real-world water and wastewater projects. You will collaborate with experienced mechanical engineers on-site and in the office, applying design and system analysis to ensure efficient operation. The role combines hands-on project delivery with learning, safety accountability, and mentorship, setting you up for a career in mechanical engineering. This is a community-focused, early-career opportunity with potential for a permanent role and study support. You will work across the North West region, gaining broad exposure and practical industry experience.

Responsibilities
- Collaborate with mechanical engineers on design and construction tasks
- Work on water and wastewater projects from design to installation and maintenance
- Develop mechanical design, system analysis and problem-solving skills
- Adhere to health and safety guidelines on all projects
- Engage across both design and construction teams within the United Utilities framework
- Travel within the North West region as required
Key requirements
- Undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field (current full-time student)
