Overview

Senior Highways Engineer (Urban Realm) at GHD leads urban realm and highway designs from concept to construction, guiding multidisciplinary teams to deliver sustainable, accessible places. Responsibilities

  • Lead design and delivery of urban realm, highways and traffic projects
  • Develop designs from feasibility to construction stage
  • Act as technical lead and design checker
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams (structures, drainage, lighting, landscape)
  • Manage budgets, programmes and resources
  • Build and maintain client relationships
  • Mentor junior engineers and technicians
  • Contribute to proposals, bids and business development
  • Site visits, surveys and construction support as needed
  • Ensure compliance with standards, specifications and quality procedures

Key requirements

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
  • Typically 5+ years’ experience in highways, urban realm or traffic engineering design
  • Experience delivering public realm schemes, active travel infrastructure, bus priority and public transport improvements
  • Knowledge of UK highway design standards and guidance
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary design teams
  • Ability to review and check technical designs and drawings
  • Understanding of highway construction methods, materials and specifications
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and associated design software
