Senior Legal Counsel

Overview

In this role you will lead all legal matters for a fast-growing fintech challenger bank, shaping governance and commercial strategy. You will work closely with senior leadership to support growth across the UK through scalable legal solutions. You’ll manage a junior lawyer and coordinate with external advisers as needed, enabling autonomous decision-making. This is an opportunity to impact regulatory-friendly lending infrastructure and cross-functional initiatives in a dynamic team.

Responsibilities

• provide in-house legal support with a focus on commercial contracts
• advise on governance and strategic initiatives in collaboration with leadership
• support scaling efforts and growth across UK operations

Key requirements

• 5+ years PQE England and Wales
• Qualified Lawyer in England and Wales
• strong commercial contracts experience
• in-house experience at a Challenger Bank, Retail Lending, SME Lending or Payments ideal
• autonomous working style and ability to engage with senior stakeholders
• exposure to executive committee and board would be a plus
