Design Manager

Overview

As Design Manager for water, you will lead multidisciplinary teams to shape and govern major AMP8 programmes, turning ambitious plans into buildable solutions. You’ll influence decisions, streamline complexity, and drive delivery across interfaces with clients, contractors and suppliers. This is a leadership role focused on governance, quality and sustainability, not just coordination, with exposure to major UK water frameworks. You will help shape outcomes and strengthen GHD’s design management capability.

Responsibilities

• Lead multidisciplinary design teams on AMP8 water and wastewater projects
• Support options through optioneering, outline, detailed design and construction support
• Coordinate technical interfaces, design risks, assumptions, decisions, reviews and assurance activities
• Collaborate with clients, contractors, framework partners and suppliers
• Identify opportunities to simplify delivery and develop practical, sustainable solutions
• Support project delivery teams in achieving programme, budget and quality objectives
• Contribute to work winning, client relationships and framework development
• Mentor developing engineers, coordinators and technical team members

Key requirements
