Overview

As a Senior Structural Engineer, you will lead structural design across diverse projects within a leading international engineering and consultancy firm. You’ll work across sectors (rail, aviation, energy, data centres and more) and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver feasible, sustainable solutions. You’ll own project delivery, mentor junior staff, and contribute to innovative designs that reduce embodied carbon. This role offers strong client exposure, cross-border collaboration, and clear progression in a supportive, technically driven environment.

Responsibilities

  • Delivery of structural design on projects suited to your experience
  • Developing structural concepts and practical designs for steel, concrete, and timber
  • Applying sound engineering judgement to solve complex problems
  • Liaising with clients, architects, contractors and designers
  • Owning your work and contributing to successful project delivery
  • Mentoring and developing less experienced engineers
  • Contributing to innovative and sustainable design solutions
  • Exploring opportunities to reduce embodied carbon and reuse existing assets
  • Collaborating with UK and international teams
  • Supporting growth of the wider structural engineering capability

Key requirements

  • Chartered status with IStructE, ICE or international equivalent
  • Experience as a Structural Engineer in a consultancy or similar environment
  • Strong experience in steel, concrete and/or timber design
  • Solid understanding of building construction and structural principles
  • Experience on complex or technically challenging projects
  • Strong communication skills for client and stakeholder conversations
  • Ability to take ownership of project responsibilities
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers and technicians
  • Collaborative approach and interest in multidisciplinary working
  • Curiosity about engineering and sustainable solutions
  • Experience in rail, aviation, energy, manufacturing, data centres or critical infrastructure is advantageous
