Overview

In this role you will provide strategic leadership on a major central London development programme from early design through mobilisation. You will lead a project management team, collaborate with design and consultant partners, and ensure robust governance and reporting to support timely delivery. You will engage senior client stakeholders, challenge the delivery team to protect the programme, and drive procurement and risk management within a highly scrutinised environment. This is an opportunity to shape a high-profile project from inception, through design, to delivery, with direct impact at board level.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic project leadership across a complex, large-scale development
  • Lead, manage and develop the project management team (~5 PMs)
  • Support appointment and mobilisation of design and consultant teams
  • Establish robust project governance, reporting and decision-making processes
  • Oversee programme, risk, procurement, commercial performance and stakeholder management
  • Act as senior client and project team contact
  • Challenge consultants and contractors to protect the programme and outcomes
  • Maintain clear and transparent reporting throughout the project
  • Ensure procurement decisions and expenditure meet high accountability standards
  • Identify and resolve strategic risks before they affect delivery
  • Support the project director and peers in reporting to board level within the client organisation

Key requirements

  • Experience at Associate Director or equivalent level
  • Track record delivering projects valued >£100m–£150m
  • Experience with major developer, investor, development manager or client-side organisations
  • Strong knowledge of major commercial, mixed-use or complex central London developments
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary consultant and design teams in early project stages
  • Excellent understanding of governance, procurement, programme management and risk
  • Ability to lead and motivate an established PM team with a ‘one team’ ethos
  • Strong commercial experience and ability to advise senior client stakeholders
  • Experience in transparent, highly scrutinised procurement environments
