Ratings Surveyor

Overview

As a Rating Surveyor in London, you will advise on business rates liabilities, assessments and mitigation strategies for a diverse client base. You’ll progress Check, Challenge and Appeal cases, inspect properties, and analyze rental evidence to inform clear rating submissions. You will manage end-to-end instructions while nurturing strong client relationships and stay current with rating legislation and market developments. This role sits in a respected advisory team that values technical excellence and staff development, offering meaningful and visible impact in business rates strategy.

Responsibilities

• Advise clients on business rates liabilities, assessments and mitigation strategies
• Prepare and progress Check, Challenge and Appeal cases
• Inspect properties and analyse rental evidence and comparable data
• Prepare clear rating advice and submissions
• Manage instructions end-to-end and maintain strong client relationships
• Stay updated on rating legislation, case law and market developments

Key requirements

• MRICS qualified
• Experience in business rates / rating advisory
• Strong analytical and numerical skills
