Senior Electrical Engineer

Overview

As a Senior Electrical Engineer at AECOM’s Buildings + Places Canada, you will lead complex electrical design across infrastructure sectors and mentor junior engineers. You’ll work within a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, innovative solutions for water, transportation, buildings, and sustainability projects. The role emphasizes practical design leadership, client interaction, and ongoing technical advancement. Responsibilities

• Independently perform and lead detailed electrical design and analysis across infrastructure sectors
• Prepare and review technical specifications, reports, and construction drawings
• Propose design approaches and solve advanced engineering problems
• Identify discrepancies and develop corrective strategies proactively
• Lead and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure design integration and quality delivery
• Conduct field investigations, condition assessments, and construction-phase support
• Manage portions of projects including budget, schedule, and deliverables
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers, EITs, and technicians
• Participate in project planning, proposal writing, and client interactions
• Maintain knowledge of evolving technologies, codes, and practices to support technical leadership

Key requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
• Six (6) years of experience or equivalent
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Ontario in good standing
• Strong leadership, project management, and client communication skills
• Experience across Water & Wastewater, Transportation, Buildings, and Sustainability sectors
• Advanced proficiency in design and analysis software (AutoCAD, Revit, ETAP, SKM)
