Overview

As Lead Machine Learning Engineer, you will steer the technical direction and delivery of complex AI initiatives. You’ll influence architecture and guide cross-functional teams in a rapidly evolving, highly regulated environment. You’ll own high-risk projects, foster reusable solutions, and mentor engineers to elevate delivery quality. You’ll work closely with clients, translating goals into practical AI deployments that balance innovation with safety. This role offers a chance to shape scalable ML platforms within a mission-driven, human-centric AI company.

Responsibilities

  • Set the technical direction for complex ML projects, balancing trade-offs and guiding priorities
  • Design, implement, and maintain reliable, scalable ML/software systems and justify architectural decisions
  • Define project problems, develop roadmaps, and oversee multi-workstream delivery in high-risk environments
  • Develop shared resources and libraries, and guide engineers in contributing
  • Lead hiring processes, make informed selections, and mentor multiple engineers
  • Proactively adopt new technologies and evolve ways of working to stay ahead
  • Act as technical expert and coach for customers, estimate large work-streams, and defend rationale to stakeholders

Key requirements

  • Technical expert with deep and broad knowledge to solve diverse problems
  • Strong Python skills with practical experience deploying models using Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch
  • Expertise in at least one major Cloud Provider (Azure, GCP, AWS) and experience leading full-stack web app teams
  • Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes
  • Experience managing and coaching engineering teams and setting development goals
  • Ability to craft novel, practical delivery solutions and own outcomes
  • Excellent communicator who guides customers and aligns technical and non-technical stakeholders
