Overview

As a Senior Test Engineer, you will plan, deploy and qualify tests for landing gear technology, from early planning to reporting. You’ll lead test execution, operate and configure measurement systems, and analyze results to support product development and in-service programs. You will work with customers, suppliers and internal teams to ensure high-quality test deliverables and continuous improvement at the test facility. This role offers a hands-on chance to shape advanced landing gear solutions within a global aerospace leader.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver development and qualification tests from concept to final reporting
  • Lead and coordinate test execution activities across resources
  • Operate control and data acquisition systems and install/configure test instrumentation
  • Review test procedure requirements and ensure compliance
  • Investigate faults and resolve testing issues
  • Collaborate with internal/external customers, suppliers and stakeholders
  • Produce technical documentation and comprehensive test reports
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the test facility
  • Support qualification of new products and ongoing in-service programmes

Key requirements

  • Experience in a qualification or development test environment
  • Experience in structural strength, fatigue, endurance, environmental, and/or flight test instrumentation
  • Experience in electrical and hydraulic systems, servo controls and PLC controllers
  • Experience with test control systems, data acquisition systems and instrumentation
  • Practical experience within a test environment
  • Knowledge of strain gauging and its applications (advantageous)
  • Ability to read technical drawings and test requirement documentation
  • Experience with calibration of transducers (e.g., force, pressure, displacement)
  • Technical report writing
  • Project management skills to meet customer requirements (quality, cost, time)
  • Knowledge of safe working practices for testing (HSE, risk assessments, COSHH, isolation & lockout, lifting)
  • Excellent computer literacy and IT skills (Microsoft Applications)
