Overview

As a Civil Project Engineer in the HVDC team, you will drive civil design and delivery on high-value projects within SSE Transmission’s Pathway to 2030. You will collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to manage scope, risks, and constructability while upholding CDM and safety standards. Located in Scotland with some travel to Highlands, Western Isles, and Aberdeenshire, you will shape solutions for a net-zero grid. Responsibilities

  • Civil engineering design and delivery on assigned projects with capital values from 200M to 2B
  • Provide technical input for civil discipline and ensure cross-functional coordination for project delivery
  • Promote safety and implement CDM procedures; fulfill Designer or Principal Designer responsibilities
  • Define scope of civil design and verify designs through validation and verification activities
  • Support delivery stages including handling RFIs, TQs and PMIs
  • Collaborate with contractors, consultants, and multi-disciplinary teams to develop design information
  • Provide site support during construction, resolve design/construction issues and close out non-conformances/quality issues

Key requirements

  • Degree in an appropriate engineering discipline (preferably with CEng or working towards it)
  • Experience using Infraworks, Civil 3D, Revit, Navisworks or similar digital platforms for design development
  • Strong knowledge of industry standards, design codes, and technical specifications
  • Understanding of CDM Regulations and constructability on site
  • Ability to communicate complex technical issues clearly to senior management
  • Experience working in multi-discipline project teams and eagerness to learn other disciplines
