Senior Cost Manager (Construction Consultancy)

Overview

As a Senior Cost Manager at AECOM, you will lead cost management across the full project lifecycle, from inception to completion. You’ll mentor junior staff, guide cost estimates and procurement strategies, and ensure successful post-contract delivery and client satisfaction. You’ll build strong relationships with clients and project teams, acting as the cost advisory interface. This role offers impact through shaping project economics for high-profile UK sectors and contributing to a globally trusted infrastructure practice.

Responsibilities

• Lead projects from inception to completion in cost management terms
• Produce cost estimates, cost plans, procurement and tendering advice
• Oversee post-contract delivery including valuations, change control, reporting and final accounts
• Provide mentoring and line management to Project Surveyors, Cost Managers, Graduates and Apprentices
• Ensure commissions are delivered efficiently, on time and to client satisfaction
• Develop strong client and project team relationships and act as interface with clients

Key requirements

• Chartered Status with the RICS
• Proven experience in Cost Management across full project lifecycle
• Ability to advise on cost, value and risk to clients and design teams
• Excellent IT skills for digital measurement, cost planning and tender documentation tools
• Experience in UK project sectors: Commercial, Industrial & Logistics, Residential, Higher Education and Mixed Use
