Overview

In this role you will provide independent safety oversight for major UK nuclear projects, acting as a trusted advisor to engineering teams. You will assess safety performance and challenge designs to ensure robust regulatory compliance. The position supports Hinkley Point C and Sizewell C within EDF EPR Engineering UK, contributing to a culture of safety and continuous improvement. This is a mission-driven opportunity to influence senior stakeholders and shape nuclear safety across landmark projects.

Responsibilities

  • Own and maintain the Independent Nuclear Safety Oversight programme (planning, delivery, reporting)
  • Conduct independent reviews of engineering deliverables across nuclear systems
  • Assess organisational safety performance and identify improvements
  • Provide independent challenge in technical decision forums
  • Develop and promote Nuclear Safety Culture initiatives and training

Key requirements

  • Engineering or science degree (or equivalent)
  • Experience in a highly regulated, safety-critical industry
  • Knowledge of nuclear safety codes, standards, and reactor design/operations
  • Experience applying safety principles to design/operations reviews
  • Ability to influence and challenge stakeholders; resilient and independent
  • Strong communication, strategic thinking, and fluent English
  • Security Vetting eligibility (UK residency criteria)
