Site Manager – Highways

Overview

In this role you will lead on-site delivery for civil engineering, civils and groundworks projects across Essex, guiding both internal and subcontracted teams. You will coordinate site activities, manage documentation, and maintain client alignment to confirm methods and expectations. You will ensure smooth handover to clients and work with operations and commercial teams to drive cost-efficient delivery. This is an opportunity to shape project execution on varying scales, from smaller works to complex schemes, within a reputable contractor.

Responsibilities

• Oversee on-site works and supervise subcontractors and staff
• Manage site documentation, permits, reports, specifications, and related documents
• Engage with clients to understand needs, resolve queries, and confirm construction methods
• Ensure proper handover of projects to clients per company standards
• Collaborate with operations and commercial teams to maximise opportunities and minimise risks to achieve optimal project costs

Key requirements

• Minimum 5 years on-site experience
• Civil engineering qualification desirable but not essential
• Good understanding of civils projects
• Ability to meet tight deadlines
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
• Clean Driving licence
