As a Senior Software Engineer, you will lead the design, development, and delivery of software across Oxford Instruments Plasma Technology’s portfolio while staying hands-on with code. You’ll provide technical leadership across the full software lifecycle, ensuring robust, secure systems aligned with business goals. You’ll mentor engineers, drive best practices, and serve as a trusted technical authority for customers and internal stakeholders. Responsibilities

  • Lead design and development of software for products and systems
  • Own complex software projects from concept to delivery
  • Develop high-quality software using C#, C++, and C
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across Engineering, Service, Product Management and Operations
  • Support customers and field engineers in diagnosing technical issues
  • Mentor engineers and establish team-wide best practices
  • Review software designs and implementations for quality, maintainability and security
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and long-term platform evolution

Key requirements

  • Significant experience developing commercial software products
  • Strong C#, C++, and/or C development skills
  • Experience leading complex technical work and influencing direction
  • Experience with Windows-based applications and real-time control systems
  • Excellent communication and cross-disciplinary collaboration skills
  • Degree in Computing, Physics or related discipline, or equivalent industry experience
