Operational Buyer

Overview

In this role you will manage procurement and supply chain across multi-site contracts to deliver facility management excellence. You will work within the Procurement team to align sourcing plans with business objectives and drive cost savings and supplier performance. You’ll engage stakeholders, negotiate with suppliers, and support risk-managed tendering and contract management. This is a hands-on, cross-functional position with visibility across operations and procurement, offering scope to influence value, service quality, and delivery outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Act as the operational point of contact for procurement and supply chain matters on allocated contract(s) and represent Procurement in contract/operational reviews
• Ensure procurement activity aligns with business objectives, ASPs and best practice to deliver compliant and commercial outcomes
• Develop and maintain Account Sourcing Plans (ASPs) with operational teams to achieve sourcing and operational targets
• Drive PSL compliance and manage supplier requests to maximise savings and benefits
• Promote supplier-led innovation and present opportunities to enhance service delivery, revenue and margin
• Deliver measurable cost savings and VRD discounts through supplier negotiation and contract management
• Support risk-based tendering, supplier selection and award, ensuring appropriate pricing models and alignment of KPIs/SLAs
• Support continuous improvement by identifying procurement process enhancements and gathering stakeholder feedback
• Analyse market trends and supplier performance to identify risks and opportunities and implement mitigations
• Collaborate with Category teams to manage supplier relationships and address coverage gaps
• Plan and review the Account Sourcing Plan cycle according to priorities and spend analysis
• Manage and report on account/contract supply chain KPIs and SLAs and escalate as needed
• Support annual PPM contract renewals, benchmarking and tendering to deliver value for money
• Provide procurement input into client bid and mobilisation activities with focus on cost, supplier selection and quality requirements

Key requirements

• Proven experience in an Operational Buyer, procurement or supply chain role (ideally Facilities Management or related services)
• Strong stakeholder engagement, presentation and influencing skills with ability to build cross-functional relationships
• Experience delivering cost savings, value improvements and procurement targets
• Ability to identify, assess and manage risk throughout procurement and contract management
• High integrity with a passion for procurement and supply chain best practice
• Ability to work effectively in cross-functional and operational teams
• Valid full UK driving licence with willingness to travel across the UK (and overnight stays)
