Overview
As a Mental Health Practitioner, you will provide expert, evidence-based support to students with complex mental health needs. You will lead on high-risk cases, coordinate multi-agency responses, and shape accessible wellbeing pathways across the university. You supervise Mental Health Advisers and contribute to service development and training. This role sits within Student Health & Wellbeing, helping students pursue their academic and personal goals through expert mental health support.

Responsibilities
- risk assessment and crisis response for students with mental health needs
- lead on complex cases and coordinate multi-agency liaison with NHS and external services
- provide line-management and clinical/operational supervision to Mental Health Advisers
- ensure continuity of support during staff absence
- contribute to service improvement and data-informed practice
- develop inclusive, accessible support pathways across the University
- offer specialist consultation and training to academic and professional services colleagues
- lead on service development and ensure governance of care delivery
Key requirements
- professionally registered mental health practitioner
- significant experience in mental health practice
- strong safeguarding and communication skills
- commitment to equality, inclusion, student wellbeing, and evidence-based support
- ability to manage risk, undertake crisis intervention, and coordinate complex cases
- experience supervising staff or coordinating teams (where applicable)
