Overview
In this General Manager role, you will lead the administration and delivery of multiple productions, ensuring smooth pre-production through final performance. You will work within the producer’s office, coordinating with departments to manage budgets, schedules, payroll, visas, and travel for UK and international productions. You’ll communicate with creative teams and Company Stage Managers, handling casting, contracts, and contingency plans. This role offers impact across touring and stage events, underpinning successful openings, press nights, and gala occasions.
Responsibilities
- Lead administration and smooth delivery from pre-production to final performance for assigned shows
- Coordinate casting, auditions, contracting, availability checks and creative team engagement
- Manage budgets, payroll, expenses, and P&L forecasts; monitor running costs
- Oversee visas, travel, accommodation, and transport logistics for touring/international productions
- Act as a main contact for Company Stage Managers, managing covers and contingency planning
- Coordinate meetings, production records, databases, and contracts; support opening/press/night events
- Ensure compliance with union agreements and manage royalty schedules
- Support HR matters and liaise with suppliers and subcontractors across group operations
Key requirements
- Experience as general manager or production assistant in theatre (UK or international)
- Experience producing shows in UK regions, West End, and international markets
- Experience in casting, budgeting, contracting, payroll, and production delivery
- Solid understanding of industry union agreements
- Strong knowledge of industry trends and audience behaviour
- Excellent verbal and written communication; strong IT, numeracy and admin skills
- Proven ability to manage budgets and P&L; commercial viability focus
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines; strong time management
